Reminder – the meeting is this Tuesday, 7 p.m., WEYC!
Have you heard about the proposed lease of the Water and Sewer Department? No? Have you heard about it, but don’t know the details? Have you been reading about it, but have questions?
On Tuesday, 12/4, 7 p.m. at the West End Youth Center, Mayor Pawlowski will give a presentation on the lease proposal and answer any question you may have.
Here’s a brief overview of the Water and Sewer Dept. lease proposal. The City is facing a significant liability for the fire and police pension plans. The Mayor has proposed leasing the Water and Sewer Dept. to a 3rd party in order to receive an upfront payment in excess of $100 million to reduce the unfunded liabilities for these pensions. The term of the lease is 50 years.
A Request For Qualifications was issued and on 8/31 seven bidders were pre-qualified to bid on the proposal. On October 31st, a Request For Proposal was approved by City Council and the bidding process was scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.
